Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Variani collects when you browse or buy, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and the rights you have over it. It applies to www.variani.com.

1. Who We Are and How to Reach Us

Variani is a leather goods atelier operated by Bian Variani at 1231 Pacific Blvd., Vancouver, British Columbia, V6Z 0E2, Canada. Variani is the data controller for the personal information described on this page.

For any question about this policy, or to exercise any of the rights described in section 8, contact info@variani.com or telephone +1 (604) 800-4009.

2. What We Collect When You Order

To fulfil an order we collect your first name, last name, company name where given, email address, telephone number, street address and second address line, city, state or province, postal code, country, and any delivery notes you choose to add.

We also record the items ordered, the sizes selected, the order total, the order number and the Stripe payment reference. We do not receive or store your full card number, expiry date or security code at any point. Those are entered directly into Stripe's payment form and never reach our server.

3. What We Collect When You Contact Us

The contact form collects your name, your email address, the subject and the content of your message. We use this only to answer you and to keep a record of the correspondence.

4. Cookies, Analytics and Advertising Technology

The website sets a PHPSESSID session cookie. This is strictly necessary: it is what remembers the contents of your basket between pages. It expires when you close your browser.

The site also loads third-party technology that may set its own cookies or identifiers: Stripe for payment processing, Google Tag Manager, the Meta (Facebook) pixel and the TikTok pixel for measurement and advertising, and Google Fonts, Cloudflare and Tailwind content delivery networks for page assets. These providers may receive your IP address and browsing activity on this site under their own privacy policies.

We do not currently operate a cookie consent banner. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom and wish to prevent non-essential tracking, use your browser's cookie controls or an ad blocker before browsing. We are reviewing this.

5. Email Open and Click Tracking

If we send you an email, it may contain a tracking pixel and rewritten links. When an email is opened or a link inside it is clicked, we log the message identifier, the destination URL where applicable, your IP address, your browser user agent and the timestamp.

We use this to understand whether our messages are being delivered and read. If you would rather not be tracked this way, most email clients can be set to block remote images, which prevents the open pixel from loading.

6. Why We Are Allowed to Use Your Information

We process order information because it is necessary to perform the contract you enter into when you buy from us. We process contact form information on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. We process analytics and advertising information on the basis of consent where consent is required in your jurisdiction, and otherwise on the basis of legitimate interest in understanding and improving the business.

We keep order records for as long as required by Canadian tax and business record keeping rules, and we keep correspondence for as long as it remains useful to support you.

7. Who Your Information Is Shared With

Stripe, Inc. processes payments and receives the information required to take payment and to prevent fraud. Our web host stores the site and its order records. Our shipping carriers, currently DHL Express and USPS International, receive the name, address and telephone number needed to deliver your parcel. Google, Meta and TikTok receive the measurement and advertising data described in section 4.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for any purpose beyond running the shop, fulfilling orders and measuring our own marketing.

8. Your Rights

Under Canadian privacy law you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything inaccurate, and complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you additionally have the right to receive a copy of your data in a portable format, to have it erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that has already taken place.

Write to info@variani.com and we will respond within thirty days.

9. International Transfers and Security

Variani ships worldwide, so your information may be transferred to and stored in countries outside your own, including Canada and the United States, which may not offer the same level of protection as your home jurisdiction.

The site is served over HTTPS, payment data is handled entirely by Stripe, and our payment credentials are stored outside the public web directory. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect what we hold.

10. Children

This shop is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of sixteen. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We will update this page if our practices change, and the effective date below will change with it. Material changes affecting how we use information already collected will be notified by email where we hold an address for you.

Effective 13 August 2026. Variani, 1231 Pacific Blvd., Vancouver, BC V6Z 0E2, Canada.
