The shortcut
Coated and corrected leathers carry a plastic-like finish that turns brittle in Calgary's deep cold. Buckle up while it is frozen and the finish breaks.
The Variani way
Full-grain aniline leather has no brittle coating on top. It stiffens in extreme cold like all real leather, so give it a few minutes indoors before bending it hard, and it keeps going for decades.
