The winter-city belt problems, and how Bian solves them
Every belt that fails in an Edmonton winter was made with a shortcut somewhere. These are the ones that show first.
I left my belt in the truck overnight and it cracked when I put it on.
The shortcut
Painted and corrected leathers carry a coating that goes brittle in deep cold. Bent hard before it warms up, the coating breaks, and sometimes the leather with it.
The Variani way
Full-grain aniline leather has no brittle coating, so nothing on the surface is waiting to crack. It will still stiffen at minus thirty, so bring it inside and let it warm before you bend it hard.

Edmonton roads are salted and sanded all winter, and slush splashes onto coats and belts. Plated zinc buckles lose their finish and corrode underneath.
