Why belts wear out early on the Island

The buckle has gone dull and blotchy since I moved near the water.
The shortcut
Plated zinc buckles depend on a thin bright coating, and salty sea air works through it. Once it breaks, the soft alloy underneath corrodes.
The Variani way
Every Variani buckle is solid stainless steel from the 316L family, used in medical implants, never plated. The #VAR016 buckle is CNC-machined from solid metal, with the sharp lines of real machining.

The shortcut
Painted or coated leather hides a poor-quality split beneath. Damp winters and daily bending loosen the coating piece by piece.
